Pompeii in Italy
I have been fascinated with Pompeii since I was 12 years old. It is an amazing place. There is a whole town here and the streets have special cobble stones to walk across so your feet don't get dirty in the dirty water that would have been on the streets at times back then. There are places where people bought their bread, an open air place for people to meet, a huge house with many rooms and a courtyard garden, and a temple. Some of the original decorations and colours are still on the walls. All this was in 79 A.D. It was completely covered up by pumice stones and ash, in less than 24 hours. We saw some of the casts of people and a dog that had been killed from the Mount Vesuvius eruption. It was rediscovered in the 15th century but they didn't start exploring it until 1748.
Here is a photo of Kiwi Bear at Apollo's Temple in Pompeii.

Hi Lynne & Tim! What an amazing time you're having!! Looks like the weather's gorgeous too judging by the summery garb Kiwi Bear's sporting! Your photos are all beautiful and I can't wait to see some of the sights myself. Hope this comment gets to you-you know how ICT remedial I am!
